so you would like to book a live band, but maybe you don’t have to space or you might be concerned about the volume. Richard Colwell performs to “Sequenced backing tracks”, but plays along with which ever instrument is predominant in the arrangement plus his is, of course singing live! With the sound being produced electronically the volume can be tailored to the size of your venue. “Over the years I have played in clients front rooms and in some massive holiday complexes. Being a musician I don’t particularly want to damage my hearing let alone that of my audience I don’t think my act is that bad!”

So Richard your act must sound the same every time if it’s electronic right? “Not really I have a huge number of songs to call upon so even if I played at a venue fairly regularly I don’t do the same songs every time. I’m always learning new material, both from the past and some tunes which are in the charts now. Also the idea is that we have a bit of fun so anything I say, is made up on the night I don’t really tell jokes, in fact I’m rubbish at telling jokes. I just think of funny things! It’s like having a few friends round singing some songs and having a bit of a laugh.”
